I hope you all are enjoying the start of your summer so far. We are really soaking up the family time, patio dinners, relaxed mornings and ice cream parties. My favorite thing about the summer is hosting parties and having get togethers in the backyard. (And lets be honest, the clean up is so much easier, especially with the little ones). One of my favorite holidays to entertain has always been the 4th of July. We love decorating our patio table and creating a festive drink bar on our wood bar cart.
I get so excited every year to see what new items Walmart Home has come out with for the 4th of July. Their decor is always on point with my decor theme. I always aim for a simplistic palette and love all their offerings. One of my go-to items is a beverage dispenser, but the ones I find are always too small. I was so excited to find the 2-gallon beverage dispenser. I love filling my dispensers with fruit during the summer, but I also recommend lemon slices, mint and basil. TIP ALERT: I highly recommend putting your lemon slices in ice trays and freezing them.

If you are in need of some entertaining tips for the 4th of July, I have a four tips for you for relating to decor, food, desserts and drinks.
- Show your patriotism and hang a flag. Hanging an American flag for independence day sets a tone and gives the perfect backdrop to your tabletop decor. Flags don’t always need to be hung from a flag pole, think outside the box and move your flag where the celebration will be.
- Have grab and go food items. We are hanging by the pool, playing yard games and grilling. Serve food that can be handheld and easy to pick up and talk with. I absolutely love Walmart’s tiered galvanized stand. I can layer it with fruits and veggies in individual cups for appetizers, transition to mini sandwiches and then waffle ice cream cups for dessert.
- Keep the refreshments flowing. I LOVE Walmart’s 2 gallon beverage dispenser and it serves all of our guests. Serve water, lemonade or ice tea in the dispenser, whatever the drink may be, it is sure to look beautiful.
- Use trays. I love putting appetizers and meals on platters. Serve up some veggies in clear cups, have mini hamburgers on the tray and for dessert have grab and go strawberry cheesecakes (quite fitting for the celebration). They are so easy to take from the kitchen to the table and make as such a great serving piece.
Whether you are grilling outside with the family, enjoying the fireworks or traveling this 4th of July, I hope you have a relaxing long weekend. I think it is so important to celebrate with good food and our loved ones and make memories that we will look back on in years to come.
