Over a year ago, our world abruptly changed from the onset of the pandemic. During this time, we felt a loss of control. Today, I have learned to look at life in a different way and take nothing for granted. At the top of my priority list is family time. I am focusing on the things that I have control over. My family and I made the decision to hunt the road and venture to Florida with our family of 6, my mom included and our dog. The only way we will travel is in a Hertz rental.
We went with a rental because the car we own only accommodates 5 people comfortably and wouldn’t leave any room for our luggage and cooler. I stress the importance of a cooler because who can take a 24+ hour road trip with kids and not have all the snack and food to fuel them and keep them happy? A rental with hertz was the only way to go.
Rental Process
We decided it would be best to pick up our rental the day before we left. This gave me time to install all the car seats and properly pack the car so everyone had enough room and the items we needed were accessible. I picked up the car in the morning and it took me under 15 minutes to get our GMC Yukon XL. I was welcome and greeted by the agent and immediately taken care of. The hertz agent was able to answer all the questions I had as well as review where things were located within the vehicle. I was very happy with how clean the interior of this vehicle was. The vehicle they provided me was exactly what I needed, which proved that they did pay attention to the details I noted in my reservations.
We were not disappointed with the car as it was big enough for all of us and it drove smoothly to and from our road trip. I loved the feature or the bucket seats in the middle row. I could easily fit two car seats in the second row and one in the back. With the second row having bucket seats, we were able to store our cooler and have easy access to snacks and beverages along our trip.
Car Features
The car also came equipped with USB and three prong outlets. We were able to charge all of our devices including our laptops. It was nice to get work done while the kids were sleeping in the car. Our phone was also to be connected via Bluetooth to the cars navigation system. Our entire trip was mapped out for us and it was nice to have it on the GMC screen.
We were able to explore all the states with our children. They were so excited each time we entered a new state and wanted to learn all about them. Once we got to Florida, we were able to unpack all of our luggage and have enough room in the trunk for our double stroller that we rented along with our single stroller. The car did exceptionally well on gas as we traveled from Kissimmee to Orlando three times during our vacation.
Returning the Vehicle
The return was as easy as the pickup and I was in and out within 10 minutes. I really didn’t want to give the GMC back. I absolutely loved all the features of the car and it’s going to be hard to transition back to my car now. If you are looking to take a family vacation during the pandemic, I would highly recommend Hertz. Whether you need a large car with tons of room for the family or are looking for something luxurious for a weekend away, Hertz has the vehicle for you.
