This post is sponsored but all views and comments are my own. I want to start off by making mention that this sleep program does not use the cry it out method. I wanted to try this program to get my baby into a routine. There are so many sleep programs for parents out there, but this one fit our needs. The best part of this program is that it will adapt to your lifestyle.
After a month of using the program, I wanted to share my opinion with you all.
Why our family needed a sleep program:
My daughter was a great sleeper. I woke up occasionally during the night, which was to be expected with a newborn who is breastfeeding. My main concern came with her being the third child and having to juggle everyone’s routines while still making sure she had adequate sleep. My daughter started to fall into a pattern of having quick cat naps and waking up shortly after I put her in her bassinet. Without her having a good sleep during the day led to poor sleep at night. My daughter ended up waking up just minutes after I put her down for the night and she was waking every hour.
Eventually she didn’t want to be put down at all. It also got to the point where she thought her wake up time was 3am and she was bright eyed, giggling and laughing. This little girl has the biggest personality and her smiles bring a smile to my face at any hour, but I knew she wasn’t getting the sleep she deserved. This is why I started the Littles Ones program.
Little Ones Overview
The Littles Ones program is broken down by age groups: 0-3 months (starting from 2 weeks), 3-6 months, 6-12 months, 12-24 months, and 2-3 years. The program is available on an app on your phone or pad. Each program is available for download in a pdf form.
Little Ones is similar to other sleep programs in the sense that it is a flexible routine, meaning you make day-to-day changes accordingly. The Littles Ones Sleep Program is centered around baby’s awake time and nap lengths. The program provides a schedule, but again, you can adapt it to your lifestyle as all awake and sleep times vary.
Starting any program can be difficult and allows for work between both baby and parent. The program does state that it takes at least 1-2 weeks before you can start to see improvement.
With my little one, she was having short cap naps and the program states that with this schedule, it would lead to unpredictable bedtime each day, which in turn will lead to an unpredictable wake time the next morning.
This program allows for a balance of total awake + sleep time within a 24 hour period. At the same time it manages babies that are able to have consistent naps as well as for cat mappers. The result should end in a more predictable day for you and baby.
A “typical” sleep-wake schedule should be as follows:
8:00 wake & feed
9:30-10:30 nap
11:00 feed
12:00- 2:00pm nap
2:00 feed
3:30- 4:30 nap
5:00 feed
7:15 start bedtime routine
8:00 bed
There is no one size fits all for any program, but this is a guide for how a day could work for your family.
How the program worked for us
When starting the program, don’t expect a miracle. All babies have ups and downs. There have only been a couple of times that my little one slept through the night. My two year old still wakes through the night. While this sleep program works, you need to understand that your baby will still be working their milestones and they are still growing. Babies have growth spurts and sometimes regress.
However, this program does some amazing things. It is unlike any other program that I have tried as it doesn’t give a set schedule and adapts to your lifestyle.
I have three children under the age of five and life is anything but consistent. We needed a program that could adapt for us, but my main goal was getting my daughter some well deserved sleep.
Remember, this program takes time between you and your baby. We chose a time to start the program when our family did not have a lot of activities and the kids were home from school.
The biggest take away that we had was getting our baby girl to take consistent naps during the day. Once she started to have “good” solid naps and we decided a sleep-wake schedule, her pattern at night changed. We went from at least 10 wake-ups during the night to only 2. Because a schedule was now determined, and working for our lifestyle, we were now able to adapt to it if we had a function or event during the day.
We are going to continue this program as my daughter is now in a different category at 6 months old. We will also be implementing it with our two year old. This was better than any book we have read as the forums helped us when we had questions. We were also able to reach out to other parents who were going through the same concerns.
Lastly, you are not alone with this program. Little Ones is run by moms, for moms and offers continued support when you need it. Not only are they qualified but they have a great deal of compassion for families.
Just remember, all babies are different and that is why this sleep program is the most widely sought after.
