With Spring and Summer on the horizon and the influx of warmer days, I thought it would be a good time to share some outdoor ideas with you. Our town forum also had a young woman offering her services to pick up items at stores and drop them off at peoples doorsteps for those that could not get out of the house. These are the ways to rise above the situation we are in. We can take our fear and fill it with positivity. We can rise above this and we will.
I also felt that the deck could serve as good conversation with the family as we are hunkered down for the next two weeks. We have the weather on our side and will be enjoying the fresh air. My neighbors definitely watched as I decorated my deck during the early month of March, but they should be used to this by now. I always have to be one step ahead to so you all can get some tips and tricks for the upcoming trends.
Last year my husband and I performed the grueling task of hand painting our entire deck. Yes, every spindle and piece of wood was painted with our two hands. It was a timely task, but the transformation was amazing. We honestly had such an outpouring of love for the reveal and we truly appreciate that. This season we will perform some touch-ups as mother nature did a number on the rails where water sat during the winter. Overall, we did the hard work last year and will be able to reap the benefits.

Our patio set was definitely showing its age and it needed to be replaced. To completely transform the look of our “new” deck, we wanted a new patio set as well. From the very moment I walked into Raymour Flanigan I was greeted with expertise, professionalism and familiar faces. The store manager is incredibly welcoming every time I come in. He has a family as well and will soon be welcoming his first grandchild. I mention this because he knows my needs with furniture and takes the time to get to know me and makes good conversation during the process. This is not something you will receive if you just order through a website.
The store manager went over all of the options they had for patio furniture and then gave me some time to myself to review the options. I absolutely loved the sectional and the option of having a storage compartment for all the patio pillows or patio cover, but I absolutely fell in love with the Newport Collection. They were also having an amazing sale at the time, so I ended up going home with more then I thought I would.
Include the family in your process
One being that I asked my five year old son and he loved it. Second, for the simple fact that the three seater sofa reclined on both ends. The set also had a matching reclining chair as well as a chair that rocked. The complete set also had a coffee table, but I opted for the fire pit. What I really loved was that the fire pit was round (which is great for kids) and that it served as two purposed: a table when not in use and a fire pit for those chilly summer nights.
