The holidays are here. You have the gifts, delicious food and the house prepped, but do you have the perfect drink? I love prepping a bar cart for holiday gatherings. I try to finding ways to make hosting easier and having a bar cart allows your guests a way to mix themselves. To make it even more fun, I offer some garnishings like rosemary and cranberries on skewers. I mean, how much more festive can you get with red and green?
For this recipe, I prepared the rosemary and cranberry ice cubes ahead of time as well as the sugar coated cranberries and cranberry cinnamon simple syrup.
TIP: This recipe gets better as it “ages”. The more time you allow your ingredients to sit, the happier they will be and the more tasty your Sangria will be. The best part is when the Sangria is gone and you are left with the yummy fruit (also a crowd pleaser).
Then lets talk about the sugar coated cranberries. When I first made them, my kids were lining up in the kitchen pleading to eat them. They are so simple to make. You just need a bag of cranberries, 1/2 cup water and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. Once the cranberries are transferred to a wire wrack, they have to hang out for an hour. Then you roll them in the remaining sugar. Do not refrigerate them, instead store them in a cool dry place. When you are finished, they will look like snow covered goodness.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
Ingredients
1 cup cranberry juice
1/3 cup Grand Marrier
Cranberry Cinnamon Simple Syrup
4 cinnamon sticks
2 oranges (sliced)
1 cup Fresh Cranberries
2 Cups Apple Cider
1-2 Apples Thinly Sliced
- Cranberry Simple Syrup
2 Cups Water
2 Cups Sugar
4 Cinnamon Sticks
4 Cups Fresh Cranberries

- Begin by prepping the cinnamon simple syrup. Bring sugar, water and Cinnamon Sticks to a boil. Boil for about 5 minutes and the mixture turns red. Use a strainer and obtain the liquid mixture into a bowl. Discard the cranberries and cinnamon sticks.
- Next, begin prepping the sangria. In a bowl, combine the rose’, Apple Cider, Grand Marnier, Cranberry Juice, Simple Syrup, Apple Slices, Cinnamon Sticks and Fresh Cranberries. Chill in the fridge for 4-6 hours (the longer the better).
- Once the Sangria has chilled, place Cranberry and Rosemary ice cubes in a glass along with a fresh rosemary twig and cranberry skewer. Using a funnel, add the Sangria to the food-sage ornament. Place the ornament in the glass for your guests to dispense.
