Five years ago (six as of this December) I had my first child. Grayson’s due date was December 25. I for sure thought we would be spending Christmas in the hospital. He came in December 17th. He was such a peanut and I will always remember our first Christmas together. I spent most of the day in my room with him while he slept or nursed. It was one of the best Christmases. Needless to say, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I have always decorated the kids room and they have always had their own tree.
Last year, Santa brought them a new desk. Little did we know that that desk would get significant use this year with virtual learning. It has also made a huge presentation piece for Christmas decor in their room.
This year, with the help of a few small shops, target and Pottery Barn, we turned their annual Christmas room into Santa’s workshop. I was over the moon with Oh Sweet Skye and their amazing North Pole Milk and Cookie Wood Sign. AND… What would Santa workshop be without custom Christmas cookies? I also made a candy bar and our famous hot cocoa cupcakes with marshmallow frosting. I also put hot cocoa out with peppermint whipped cream.
And what would a children’s room be without a train going around the Christmas tree? My only wish was that it didn’t take 8 C batteries. (Sign) But let me tell you, I will do anything to put smiles on my kids faces, especially this year.
Each year the kids sleep at my moms, their grandmas and when they get home, I surprise them with their Christmas bedroom. This year did not disappoint they were so excited.
