Mother’s Day is the perfect time to gather everyone you love at the table. This Mother’s Day may be a little different, but you can still make it special in the comfort of your own home. With just a few simple tips, you can have the perfect Mother’s Day Brunch table setting.
In recent years, I have elected to go out with the family for brunch. I am typically making the meals every day and really love it when someone else can cook. While it is sometimes a little more work taking the little ones out to eat, it is also nice not having to clean up or do the dishes.
While our state still has stay at home orders, most restaurants are offering an abundance of Mother’s Day meal selections that can be taken home to enjoy. Not only do I not have to cook, but we are able to support our local businesses that really need us right now.
Mother’s Day has always been such a special holiday for me. I loved making my mom breakfast in bed when I was a little girl. I remember walking up the stairs, spilling the milk from the overflowing cereal and delivering it to her in bed. I have always wanted to show my mom how appreciated she is with small gestures of flowers, hand-written cards and gifts.
Now that I am a mom, with children of my own, I still make the day special for her. I also make sure I take time during the day to show appreciation to my children because without them, I wouldn’t be a mom.
Here are four easy steps to make this simple Mother’s Day table:
1. Add fresh flowers: This beautiful arrangement was sent from Bloomsy Box. Mother’s Day just is not complete without flowers. I used a square vase and trimmed down the stems to fit the vase. I used the stems to create a criss cross pattern so they would stay in place. Bouquets add beauty to a brunch table on Mother’s Day without a lot of fuss.
2. Bring out the Fine China: Now is the time to take out Grandma’s china or dust off the plates you were given as wedding gifts. You can go with pops of pink, florals or keep it simple and classy. I decided to let the pop of color come from the flowers and use the floral plates for the cake. I wanted the eye to be drawn to the flowers and cake.
3. Baked Goods: The best way to someones heart is with sweets. Bake mom something homemade for Mother’s Day. Not only does it look beautiful, but it adds a little class to the table. The cake was very simple to make and frosting it required little or no skill with this naked cake. I topped it with some eucalyptus and roses to compliment the decor.
4. Silverware: You are using the fine china, why not bring out the silverware too. Gold definitely makes a statement and boy does it pop. I just love how well the gold silverware paired with the blush and ivory. You have to bring out the “good stuff” for mom.
All that is left is to cook (or purchase) the food and serve her with love. At the end of the day, it is not the decor, food or gift that steal moms heart because you have already done that. What is important is the people around the table, the smiles and memories being made.
Happy Mother’s Day!
